Req: Recommendations for a Video Card

I need a new video card. The one I’m using presently is an old-school PCI Voodoo3, ca. 1999, that a friend donated to me our senior year of high school! It must be Linux-compatible, have 3D, and not cost more than $150 (preferably < $100).

There are a lot of options, but I’m looking for personal anecdotes here. Post in the comments about the best and worst of 3D computing in your experience!
