Usually, I let Microsoft-bashing slide a little bit. I’ll usually save my proselytizing for Christ, and let Linux speak for itself until it starts impinging on my work or business (for instance, BB&T is all-but-IE-unfriendly). But this one just cracked me up: a Microsoft employee in management (you better believe he chose to “remain anonymous”!) said of fellow employees using the Apple iPod at work,
These guys are really quite scared. It shows how their backs are against the wall…. Even though it’s Microsoft, no one is interested in what we have to offer, even our own employees. [em. mine]
That, ladies and gentlemen, is hot.
I do enjoy the fact that not everyone at Microsoft–well, actually, just 20%–really believe that MS has the market cornered on every kind of technology. They’re great businesspeople, I’ll grant you that: no one is more shrewd, and no one makes more money. But the product is suffering, and the people on the inside know it.
Up next? A “Redmond Edition” of Linux made by a disgruntled insider to emulate the WinXP GUI with precision enough to fool the higher-ups as they walk past cubicle after cubicle. (You must let me know if this exists.

There is a live CD called Phlak (Professional Hackers Linux Assault Kit) that apparently has a boot option that skins fluxbox to look exactly like WinXP.
I haven’t actually seen it though.
Thanks for the lead, Chris; I’ve downloaded it and plan to burn it today! (Will let you know how it goes … may try to get a copy in to work, here’s hoping the IT Police don’t get ridiculous…!)
